A Love Affair by BASIK Chocolates — February Selections 2026

Aside from our own personal anecdotes, we’ve collated a few stories from friends, families and strangers about their first dates. We wanted to pick the oddest moment of the bunch - the classic debate of all date nights -- “Should we order dessert?”

History tends to repeat itself. We noticed an increase in the return of an old gastronomy classic - circa 2010 — Lemon Ash. It takes other forms like Citrus Ash (Limes, Yuzu and even Mandarins), it’s a way of intensifying the citrus as a spice by drying it out an extremely low temperature (often in the back of the oven) over an entire day, to the point it looks brown and dried out. This is then blitzed into a powder and is often re-hydrated into Curds, Cheesecakes and all sorts of other plated desserts.

Now thanks to one of our favourite suppliers that specialises in curating speciality Japanese produce, The Good Grub Hub — we recently received a small and carefully curated range of Citrus based ingredients - one being a Sudachi Lime Ash all the way from Japan. A hybrid of Lemon Curd, Cheesecake and Lemon Crisp all into one!

Our second combination is inspired by the classics - Dark Chocolate coated Strawberries…Obviously with a BASIK Chocolates twist. First we’re using a rich balsamic for our Strawberry ‘jam’ paired up with a light and herbaceous milk chocolate ganache with Freeze-Dried Basil.

Our final combination is something simple but oh so beautiful…it does indeed leave you gliding on your sole: Olive Oil & Sea Salt. A delicate White Chocolate Couverture Shell filled with a water-based ganache with a beautiful first-pressed Extra Virgin Olive Oil made with Aberquena Olives & a lightly smoked White Chocolate finished with a beautiful touch of Fleur De Sel from Brittany, France.

Do you remember that dessert? - Sudachi Lime Ash Curd & Dehydrated GF Vanilla Sponge

I ran out of the Ideas - Balsamic Strawberry Pate de Fruit & Freeze-Dried Basil

The Sole Glider - Olive Oil, Smoked White Chocolate & Sea Salt
